Walden School is a PreK through grade 8 school located in rural Walden, Vermont. We have approximately 70 students taught by a supportive group of 25 teachers and staff. Our preschool classroom on average has 8-10 students. The classroom is also supported with a preschool paraprofessional. Walden School is seeking an early education teacher motivated to create an exciting, educational, and fun learning environment for 3, 4, and 5 year old preschoolers that meets the each and every learner.

We are seeking a passionate, nurturing, and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team in Vermont. As a Preschool Teacher, you will play a critical role in fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children in a safe and supportive environment. You will create engaging learning experiences, promote positive behavior, and collaborate with families and colleagues to support each child's growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote understanding of the importance of inclusive and effective early childhood experiences
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and curiosity.
Build equitable access to opportunities, supports, and services.
Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that recognizes the interests, strengths, and areas for growth of all children by utilizing The Creative Curriculum, Guided Edition develop and guide learning of each and every student across the developmental domains of early childhood.
Lead daily activities, model play and social-emotinal skills for each and every child, support and/or facilitate children’s play throughout the preschool day.
Draw upon evidence and research for practices that are responsive and appropriate to the child’s culture, language(s), abilities, developmental level, identities, and needs.
Observe and assess each child’s development, progress, and learning needs.
Provide individualized support to children based on their developmental stages and unique needs.
Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning community.
Support children in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities.
In accordance with school policies, manage classroom behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
Maintain accurate records on each child’s progress, including anecdotal notes, assessments, and portfolios.
Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s development and classroom activities through meetings, emails, and newsletters.
Ensure the classroom and surrounding areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
Participate in school-based meetings and training as well as professional development through Caledonia Central Supervisory Union.
Follow all Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Licensing and Vermont Agency of Education regulatory guidelines.
