School Bus Substitute Paraprofessional

Job Description

Midland Public Schools has multiple openings for Bus Substitute Paraprofessional support. Bus Substitute Paraprofessionals are contacted on an as-needed basis to cover absences reported by regular hour bus paraprofessionals.

The role of the bus substitute paraprofessional is to:

• Assist the bus driver with daily tasks
• Help students on and off the bus
• Assist with seat belts and booster seats
• Support with safety vests and wheelchairs using the lift (loading and unloading)
• Secure wheelchairs safely
• Attend to students' needs for a safe and comfortable ride
• Assist substitute drivers with route directions and student stops
• Help the driver with student attendance
• Contribute to keeping the bus clean

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Able to sit, stand, bend, lift and walk frequently or a combination of the listed
• As assignments may vary for job responsibilities, applicants must be able to assist students with physical needs that may be required.
