Sparta High School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered High School Special Education Teacher with a strong background in mathematics instruction. The successful candidate will demonstrate solid proficiency through Algebra II and a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs across both special education and general education environments.
This position requires strong collaboration with teachers, families, and support staff to ensure students with disabilities have meaningful access to the general education curriculum and make measurable progress toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide small-group and individual instruction to students with IEPs based on individual learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with IEP teams
- Use differentiated instructional strategies and targeted interventions to support student success in mathematics
- Collect, analyze, and apply student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and guide instructional planning
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications, adapt curriculum, and modify instruction to ensure access to the general education curriculum
- Support students in co-taught, and inclusive classroom settings
- Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, guardians, staff, and students
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement
- Familiarity with Michigan Merit Curriculum.
- Experience or training in secondary mathematics instruction preferred
- Ability to integrate instructional technology and assessment tools to support learning
