Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Special Education Coordinator to lead our efforts in providing world-class support for students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will be the bridge between policy and practice—ensuring legal compliance while fostering an inclusive environment where every student can thrive. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, empower staff through professional development, and act as a steadfast advocate for students and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Compliance

Regulatory Oversight: Ensure 100% compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and other relevant mandates.

Caseload Management: Assume caseload responsibilities as needed to ensure all students receive required services and support during staffing fluctuations or high-volume periods.

Program Development: Design, implement, and evaluate specialized services tailored to meet unique student needs.

Data & Reporting: Maintain meticulous records and analyze student progress data to drive program effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Instructional Support & Assessment

IEP Management: Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom accommodations.

Assessment Coordination: Lead the student evaluation process, including diagnostic testing to determine eligibility for services.

Progress Monitoring: Track academic and social-emotional growth, making data-driven adjustments to interventions as necessary.
Collaboration & Advocacy

Stakeholder Liaison: Partner with teachers, administrators, and parents to integrate students into general education settings effectively.

Student Advocacy: Serve as the primary advocate for student rights, ensuring all interventions remain student-centered.

Transition Services: Facilitate smooth transitions for students moving between grade levels or transitioning to post-secondary life.
Staff Development & Community Engagement

Mentorship: Provide daily guidance and support to special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and service providers.

Professional Development: Plan and deliver training on inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and behavior management.

Community Relations: Build strong partnerships with external organizations to support families beyond the classroom.
Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.

Certification: Valid State Certification in Special Education (Administrative or Supervisory endorsement preferred).

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in special education, with a proven track record in leadership or coordination.

Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of IDEA/504 regulations and proficiency in IEP software and data management systems.

Soft Skills: Exceptional conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills.
