Job Summary
This position works closely with the Director of Special Education to oversee all special education programs for Bellcate School and is responsible for the planning, coordination, administration and evaluation of Individualized Education Plans.

Develop, oversee, support, and train program instructors
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group special education instruction.
Responsible for the development, operation and evaluation of all special education programs.
Work with case managers to ensure delivery of appropriate services in the least restrictive environment.
Attend and facilitates IEP meetings
Collect data for evaluating student progress, program effectiveness and resource utilization.
Coordinate special education and related services through regular communication and meetings with Case Managers and LEAs
Monitor program effectiveness and process

Knowledge of special education principles, theory, methods and evidence based practice.
Knowledge of child development and its impact on clinical practice regarding special education.
Clear understanding of related service decisions regarding special education and educational access.
Knowledge of effective practice, clinical decision making, outcomes based intervention and their proper application in the educational environment.
Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment tools and interpret results of assessment.
Skill in selecting and providing a wide range of intervention strategies and monitoring their effectiveness.
Knowledge of current legal mandates, including: Federal and State law, compliance issues, confidentiality requirements, funding procedures and requirements.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that are clear, concise, accurate, articulate, professional and timely.
Ability to listen actively and ability to facilitate.
Capable of effectively managing conflict and stress. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

Knowledge
Education: Bachelors or higher
Experience: Three or more years of relevant special education experience
Licenses & Endorsement: Vermont Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Ed
Abilities
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply deductive reasoning and carry out simple instructions, ability to deal with changing situations with multiple variables, and the ability to make reasoned decisions within established guidelines.
Physical Ability
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds required. Must have the ability to sit, stand, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and see at a distance of 20 inches or less. This role routinely works both indoors and outdoors. Must have the ability to be exposed to cold and hot temperatures.
