Special Education Resource Room Teacher – 

Richland Elementary

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the principal, the teacher would be working with elementary special education students to achieve excellence.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
  2. Valid Michigan teaching certificate as an elementary teacher with endorsements in Special Education 
  3. Able to assess and document student progress
  4. Professional in personal conduct and actions
  5. Excellent communication skills
  6. Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirements

Desired Characteristics:

  1. Experience in working with elementary students.
  2. Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
  3. Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community
  4. Experience in collaborating in writing common assessments
  5. Knowledge of Google Workspace
  6. Successful teaching/coaching of special education students

Duties:

  1. Provide instruction to early elementary students
  2. Provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
  3. Monitor and document student progress through Power School Special Programs IEP program
  4. Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies
  5. Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits
  6. Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
