POSITION OVERVIEW
Morehouse Parish School District seeks a dedicated and highly organized Special Education (SPED) IEP Facilitator to support students with disabilities through the development, implementation, monitoring, and compliance of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The facilitator may serve as the Official Designated Representative (ODR)/LEA Representative and ensure compliance with IDEA, Louisiana Bulletin 1508, Bulletin 1706, and district policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid Louisiana Special Education certification required. 
• Knowledge of IDEA, Bulletin 1508, Bulletin 1706, FERPA, and special education compliance requirements. 
• Knowledge of ODR/LEA Representative responsibilities. 
• Ability to serve as the district ODR at IEP meetings, eligibility conferences, and manifestation determination reviews. 
• Strong communication, organization, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills. 
• Ability to provide staff training regarding special education compliance. 
• Reliable transportation, valid Louisiana driver license, and ability to travel district-wide. 
• Maintain required automobile liability insurance. 

 

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Special Education

 

JOB GOAL
 
To facilitate the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for identified students with disabilities in accordance with local policy and state regulations. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinate development of IEPs.

2. Serve as designee for Supervisor of Special Education.

3. Schedule IEP conferences.

4. Monitor district compliance.

5. Ensure required notices.

6. Coordinate services and monitoring.

7. Coordinate Hospital/Homebound services.

8. Maintain records.

9. Ensure accurate reporting.

10. Liaison for multidisciplinary teams.

11. Provide staff training.

12. Stay current on regulations.

13. Maintain professionalism.

14. Build positive relationships.

15. Participate in professional growth.

16. Other duties as assigned.

17. Serve as ODR/LEA Representative (as needed).

18. Facilitate compliant team decisions.

19. Represent district resources.

20. Ensure parent participation.

 

Travel Requirements 

Frequent travel between district schools is required. Must possess reliable transportation, a valid Louisiana driver license, and maintain required insurance. Must be willing to attend after-school or evening meetings as assigned. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor degree; valid Louisiana Special Education certification
* Minimum 5 years special education experience
* Knowledge of special services state and federal policies
* Ability to serve as ODR/LEA Representative; reliable transportation and valid driver license. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Master’s degree in Special Education
* Educational Leadership, School Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field;
* Louisiana Educational Leadership certification preferred.
* Five or more years of successful special education experience.
* Experience serving as ODR/LEA Representative, Lead Teacher, Mentor Teacher, Teacher Leader, Instructional Coach, Compliance Coordinator, Facilitator, or similar leadership role.
* Experience facilitating multidisciplinary teams, providing professional development, supporting administrators,  coordinating district initiatives, monitoring compliance, analyzing data, and leading continuous improvement efforts.
