JOB GOAL:To provide students who are working toward the educational goals of an Individual Education Plan the tailored programs, counsel and learning experiences they need to accomplish these goals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I.Demonstrates currency in the curriculum.
A.Demonstrates a working knowledge of the core curriculum for Special Education.
B.Frames curriculum around essential questions that provide opportunities for reasoning, logic, analysis and synthesis when planning units, lessons and assessments.
C.Keeps current in the various Special Education fields and applies that knowledge to the instructional program.
D.Contributes to the ongoing evaluation of the curriculum.
II. Conducts effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction
A. Effectively plans instruction and assessment and monitors student’s understanding of the curriculum. Adjusts instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate.
III.Manages the classroom environment and creates an atmosphere that is positive for student learning and involvement.
IV. Delivers instruction in effectively.
A. The teacher makes learning goals clear to students and uses appropriate instructional techniques.
B. The teacher uses a variety of teaching strategies, including cooperative, peer and project-based learning; audio-visual presentations, lecture, discussions and inquiry, practice and application; and the teaching of others.
C.The teacher uses questioning techniques appropriate to students’ ability.
D. The teacher evaluates, tries innovative approaches, and refines instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
V. Promotes and communicates high standards and expectations for student achievement.
VI. Promotes equity and appreciation of diversity and strives to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning.
A.The teacher demonstrates an appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals.
VII. Fulfills all professional responsibilities
A. Cooperates in interactions with parents and receptive to their contributions.
B. Shares responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade/team/department, building and school district.
