Village Green is the ideal position for Special Educators who are passionate about providing a personalized learning experience, with small-group instruction. As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide students with a rigorous curriculum in a flexible and differentiated manner that focuses on their unique learning styles. Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, you will be part of a team that tracks and monitors students’ progress and adjusts programming to create a situation that will allow the student to progress academically.

With all class sizes capped at a maximum of 16 students, teachers can build strong, meaningful relationships, and provide targeted support on a 1 to 1, or in small pullout groups. VGV, small class sizes, allow creative students and teachers the ability to utilize our location in Downtown Providence to explore the city and engage in a variety of mobile learning activities and/or implement supplementary project-based learning opportunities. VGV draws all of its students from a statewide lottery system through the EnrollRI enrollment portal.

Responsibilities

•Prepare daily accommodation and support consistently with the students’ IEP and overall education plan.
•Responsible for IEP preparation and presentation.
•Support content area teachers through an inclusive co-taught model.
•Provide one on one or small group support when needed.
•Demonstrates the ability to function as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team.
•Use expertise of team members in planning and implementing educational and behavioral programs when appropriate.
•Assists other team members/content area teachers in lesson delivery based on individual student needs.
•Participate actively in departmental staff meetings.
•Recommend improvements in department functions as they relate to the educational services.
•Shares expertise and provides support to other educational staff members.
•Performs a variety of other related required duties requested by the department or the school, and complies with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
