Job Details:
Instruction & Service Delivery
-Provide specially designed instruction in inclusion, pull-out, and self-contained settings, aligned to each student’s IEP goals and the Rhode Island Core Standards
-Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in compliance with IDEA and RIDE regulations
-Utilize evidence-based practices and assistive technology to differentiate curriculum and instruction for students with mild to significant disabilities
-Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed and maintaining accurate compliance documentation
Collaboration & Compliance
-Co-teach and consult with general education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals to support students in the least restrictive environment
-Participate in IEP meetings, three-year re-evaluations, and eligibility/staffing meetings, ensuring all documentation meets RIDE’s Special Education Regulations
-Serve as the state-mandated special education provider on IEPs
Family & Professional Engagement
-Maintain regular, proactive communication with families to foster home–school partnerships and support student social-emotional growth
-Engage in ongoing professional learning, including training in Structured Literacy per Rhode Island’s Right to Read Act and RIPTS standards
-Participate in SouthSide Special Education Advisory Committee meetings
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
-Valid Rhode Island Special Education teaching certificate in one of the following areas:
-Early Childhood (PreK–2) Special Education
-Elementary (1–6) Special Education
-Demonstrated knowledge of federal IDEA statutes and Rhode Island Special Education Regulations (R.I. Gen. Laws Chapter 16-24 and 200-RICR-20-05-1)
-Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English).
-Experience supporting multilingual learners within special education settings.
-Proficiency with student information systems, Google Workspace, and assistive-technology platforms.
