Position Title:Special Education Teacher
Location: West Brookfield Elementary School
Report to:Building Principal/ Director of Student Support Services

West Brookfield Elementary School is seeking a dynamic and highly organized candidate to serve as the Special Education Teacher for our Substantially Separate Programming that serves eligible students determined eligible under the Autism, Health,
Developmental Delays, and Physical categories.

Qualifications:
Master's degree
Have a Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate or Severe Disabilities and have an SEI endorsement. Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Experience working with children who have moderate to severe disabilities
Must be committed to inclusionary practices, collaborate with general education teachers and paraprofessionals, and consult with various clinicians/therapists.
Must know effective instructional techniques and strategies to educate the students. Must have proficient communication skills with families and co-workers.

Responsibilities:
1.Provide individual and small group instruction to elementary school students who require specialized instruction outside the general education classroom.
2.Utilize ABA methodologies to support students on the Autism Spectrum.
3.Implement behavior intervention programs as outlined by district BCBA
4.Develop/modify curriculum and lessons that align with DESE Standards using access and entry points as needed.
5.Develop activities to support social, communication, and daily living skills within the classroom.
6. Collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals to develop schedules and responsibilities to meet students' individual needs.
7. Collaborate with staff to foster successful and meaningful inclusion opportunities for students as deemed appropriate.
8. Write and maintain Individualized Education Programs, including data for progress reports
9. Collect consistent behavior and academic data on student performance to drive instruction and monitor student progress
10.Complete MCAS Alt Assessment portfolios as needed
11. Communicate consistently and effectively with students, families, program staff (paraprofessionals, OT, SLP, school psychologists etc.), and administration
12.Manage resources, meet deadlines, follow through on commitments
13.Use clear verbal and written communication and active listening skills
14.Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with young children and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation, and professional conduct
15.Contribute to the goals and success of all teams and team members through collaboration, cooperation, and flexibility in team discussions, activities, and decision-making
16.Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality
17.Attends staff meetings
18.Performs other related tasks and assumes other related responsibilities as assigned by the Principal

Salary: QEA contract
