Special Education Teacher (Maternity Leave Coverage) for grades 5th and 6th to provide targeted instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) during a temporary leave period. This role focuses on addressing each student’s unique learning needs while collaborating with staff to ensure access to grade-level curriculum for all learners.

Primary Responsibilities
● Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students
● Provide direct instruction in one-to-one, small group, and inclusive classroom settings
● Plan and deliver lessons aligned with individual student needs as outlined in IEPs
● Modify assignments and homework to support student access and success
● Collaborate with classroom teachers on instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications
● Participate as an active member of the support services team
● Conduct informal assessments to monitor student progress
● Implement and, as needed, update IEP goals and objectives
● Write and maintain IEP documentation reflecting current performance, next steps, and grade-level expectations
● Complete trimester progress reports during the coverage period
● Monitor and support students’ academic, behavioral, and social development
● Communicate regularly with families, including scheduling and facilitating IEP meetings as needed ● Promote student independence by helping students:
○ Identify strengths
○ Recognize areas of need
○ Understand their learning profiles
○ Develop effective learning strategies
Additional Responsibilities
● Meet all timelines in compliance with state and federal regulations during the coverage period ● Maintain organized and up-to-date student records in accordance with guidelines ● Keep communication logs current
● Maintain strict confidentiality
● Follow through on supervisor recommendations and required timelines
Qualifications
● Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Special Needs required
