POSITION: IEP FACILITATOR Part-Time
SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (Grades 1-8) Part-Time
LOCATION: PHS IEP Facilitator – MES Special Education Teacher
POSITION SUMMARY - IEP Facilitator: This position provides leadership in the compliance of federally and state mandated Special Education procedures for students with disabilities within assigned building(s). This includes organizing, and facilitating IEP Team meetings, regularly monitoring IEP files, providing professional development to general and special education staff on compliance/legal issues related to the IEP process, assisting with case management, and gathering information/data for investigation of cases and complaints as appropriate. Provides the Department of Special Education with requested information and data for assigned school(s). This position requires regular and ongoing collaboration with the special education school-based administrator(s) at assigned schools.
POSITION SUMMARY - Special Education Teachers (Grades 1-8): Under direction of the school principal, and the supervisor of special education, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. May provide services to students in various settings in the school environment which may include general education, self-contained special education, and regional programs. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure student success. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

OTHER JOB DUTIES: (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal or the Director of Special Education.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: A Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of sedentary work using a computer, monitor, and mouse and will also include periods of standing and walking in a typical school environment. Requires moderate physical effort, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Work may require physical as well as psychological confrontations with aggressive students. Special Education teachers assigned to programs serving students with physical disabilities may be required to lift or assist with lifting students at various times during the instructional day. Special Education teachers assigned to programs serving students with aggressive behaviors will be required to maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification and may be required to use non-violent crisis intervention.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current Calvert County Public Schools’ salary schedule for teachers. If selected for this position, the candidate must enroll in direct deposit.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt.

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
