Mooseheart Child City & School is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality, individualized instruction to students with disabilities. Deliver specially designed instruction aligned to IEP goals in academic, functional, and transition areas
Adapt curriculum, strategies, and materials to meet the diverse needs of students
Implement accommodations and modifications in inclusive, resource, or self-contained settings
Use evidence-based instructional practices to engage students and support learning
Serve as case manager for assigned students
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations
Write measurable goals, determine service minutes, and track accommodations
Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instruction
Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and reevaluations
Administer and interpret formal and informal assessments
Track progress toward IEP goals and communicate updates to families
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during evaluation and eligibility processes
Work closely with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching models
Partner with related service providers (OT, PT, SLP, social worker, psychologist) for cohesive student support
Maintain regular, professional communication with families regarding student progress
Participate actively in team meetings, problem-solving sessions, and professional learning communities
Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and positive behavior strategies
Support students' social-emotional growth, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills
Use trauma-informed and restorative practices to address challenging behaviors
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records
Participate in professional development focused on special education, instruction, and compliance
Uphold ethical standards and district policies
Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture
Valid state certification in Special Education
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education procedures
Master's degree in Special Education or related field
Experience in inclusive or co-teaching environments
Experience with behavior intervention and progress monitoring
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum
Strong organizational and case management skills
Effective classroom management and relationship-building abilities
Data-driven decision-making skills
