We’re Hiring: Special Education Teacher (Severe to Profound Population)
Location: Great Barrington, MA | Position Type: Contract 3-6 months
This is not just a classroom job. It’s a commitment to care.
If you're looking for comfort, this isn’t it. But if you're built for hard work that actually means something, this could be the most fulfilling role you’ll ever take on.
About the Role:
Our client serves students with the most complex needs—nonverbal, medically fragile, behaviorally intensive, and often requiring full physical support. These are children who need educators who show up consistently, calmly, and completely. You’ll be part teacher, part advocate, part caregiver—every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals and behavior plans
Implement full communication strategies (AAC devices, visuals, total communication)
Support student ADLs alongside paraprofessionals and staff—this is a hands-on role, which means assisting with providing direct care: toileting, hygiene, feeding, repositioning, and lifting
Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and family members to ensure consistency
Maintain accurate documentation: data sheets, progress notes, and incident reports
Maintain safety awareness at all times; respond to emergencies per protocol
Uphold dignity, cultural sensitivity, and human rights in every interaction
Follow all required policies, reporting, training, and documentation protocols
