Joint School District No. 171 is currently accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher at
Timberline Schools for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This is a separate recruitment effort
from our current immediate opening for the remainder of the 2025-2026 term.
About Timberline Schools
Timberline School is a small K-12 school serving the communities of Fraser, Weippe, Pierce, Cardiff, and
Headquarters; collectively known as “the hilltop.” The community is very rural and offers great outdoor
recreation, including hunting, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, camping, skiing, and more. We are a Leader in
Me school, focused on developing students’ leadership potential, and have low student-to-teacher
ratios and opportunities for involvement in extracurricular activities.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
• Must hold valid Idaho Exceptional Child Education teaching certificate
• Manage a caseload of students with diverse learning needs (IEPs).
• Design and implement individualized instruction in a rural, K-12 setting.
• Lead IEP meetings and ensure IDEA compliance.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Salary
Contingent based on education and experience.
2025-2026 Certified Salary Schedule range: $50,252 - $78,437

Employee medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage paid 100% by the district. Family benefits paid
at 80% coverage. $20,000 employee life insurance and $2,000 dependent life insurance paid by the
district. Eligible for PERSI retirement.

Start Date: August 2026
Schedule: Four-day school week with periodic Friday work days
