    Special Educator

    Chester Academy is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the 2026�2027 school year. This role provides specialized instruction and support for a caseload of students, working collaboratively with classroom teachers to deliver whole-class, small-group, and individualized instruction aligned with each student's IEP and unique learning needs.

    The Special Education Teacher will also support and train assigned paraprofessionals, and will meet regularly with the Director of Special Services to ensure that all student needs are met in accordance with state and federal regulations.

    A NH certification in Special Education or statement of eligibility is required. This is a 187 days per year contract with salary and benefits in accordance with the Chester Education Association (CEA) collective bargaining agreement.

    Qualifications:

    NH Certification as a Special Education Teacher (1900) 


    Responsibilities:

    • Able to complete a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of those students who have been identified as having a possible educational disability using both formal and informal assessments
    • Serve on a multi-disciplinary team to determine identification of students with suspected educational disabilities
    • Collaborate with appropriate parents/guardians and teachers in planning, writing, monitoring, and implementing Individual Education Plans
    • Participate in the special education process including completion of all pertinent forms as required by NH RSA 186C and attend all meetings relevant to that assignment
    • Provide classroom teachers with consultation and materials and assist with program development and program modifications for identified students as needed in order to fulfill the objectives of the IEP
    • Attend core team meetings at the building level
    • Provide the immediate supervisor with a schedule of students serviced and keep thorough ongoing records for each student
    • Assist in the development of the annual budget for special education and requisition needed supplies for servicing students
    • Supervise a paraprofessional, if necessary, to include monitoring of student's progress and behavior, weekly planning, and reporting data and information to the immediate supervisor
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Special Education
    • Abides by the school rules and regulations as defined by school board policy, and state and federal laws related to education and the rights of individuals


    Salary and Benefits:
    Per CEA Contract - $47,710 - $87,525 per year
