About Mount Prospect Academy
Mount Prospect Academy (MPA) is a mission-driven nonprofit founded in 2003, dedicated to helping adolescents rediscover their zest for life and succeed in the business of life. Squamscott River Academy is one of MPA’s specialized academic programs, serving students with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
We offer year-round academic instruction tailored to students who have struggled in traditional settings. Our holistic approach integrates therapeutic support with innovative, competency-based education.
What You’ll Do
As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll play a key role in supporting students’ academic and emotional growth. You’ll:
Deliver engaging, project-based instruction aligned with IEP goals
Assess student progress and provide quarterly grades and IEP updates
Collaborate with academic and treatment teams
Supervise teaching assistants and contribute to curriculum development
Maintain accurate documentation and participate in professional development
Support school field trips and attend faculty meetings
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s Degree required
NHDOE Special Education Certification (or enrolled in an approved program)
Preferred: BA in core academic content (English, Math, Science)
Preferred: 2+ years teaching experience (middle/high school level)
Experience working with youth in any capacity (e.g., camp counselor, coach, babysitter)
Passion for working with students with emotional and behavioral needs
MPA supports certification pathways and professional development plans for qualified candidates.
