The Triton Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead instruction within the Essentials/TLC Middle School Program, a specialized program designed to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, social-emotional, and communication needs.
This program provides a continuum of services for students requiring individualized instruction, behavioral supports, and academic modifications in order to access the general education curriculum. The teacher will provide instruction in both substantially separate and inclusive settings, implementing evidence-based practices, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, individualized academic instruction, and social-emotional skill development.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, behavior specialists, and families to support student growth, independence, and meaningful access to the school environment.
Instruction and Curriculum
Provide individualized and small group instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Modify and adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs and individualized entry points.
Deliver instruction across academic areas including literacy, mathematics, executive functioning, and social-emotional learning.
Implement structured teaching strategies including explicit instruction, differentiated instruction, and ABA-based methodologies when appropriate.
Support students in both substantially separate settings and inclusive general education environments.
Behavioral and Social-Emotional Support
Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and individualized behavior intervention plans.
Collaborate with the district BCBA and behavior specialists to support behavioral programming and data collection.
Provide direct instruction in social skills, self-regulation, and social pragmatics.
Foster a positive and structured classroom environment that supports student independence and resilience.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and monitor progress toward IEP goals.
Prepare progress reports and participate in IEP meetings with families and team members.
Collaboration
Work collaboratively with general education teachers to support student inclusion and access to grade-level curriculum.
Coordinate with related service providers (speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling).
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and program supports.
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and district initiatives.
Program Implementation
Maintain structured classroom routines and visual supports to enhance student learning.
Utilize assistive technology and communication supports (including AAC when appropriate).
Support skill generalization across school environments and increase student independence.
Contribute to a collaborative team approach within the Essentials/TLC program.
