Special Education Teacher - Achieve Program

About the Program:

The Achieve Program is designed for students who benefit from highly individualized instruction to support the development of language, functional, early academic, and daily living skills. Through small group instruction, students receive targeted support in foundational academics, social-emotional learning, and communication. Inclusion opportunities are thoughtfully introduced and increase over time as students gain confidence and success in less restrictive settings. All inclusion is supported by the classroom teacher and/or paraeducators.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that target communication, functional academics, and life skills.
  • Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate with related service providers, general education teachers, and paraeducators.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students during inclusion opportunities with the goal of increasing access to general education over time.
  • Communicate effectively with families and team members.

 

Qualifications Preferred:

  1. Massachusetts DESE license in Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities (PreK–8) (severe certification preferred; moderate will be considered with experience and a strong skill set).
  2. SEI Endorsement
  3. Experience working in a substantially separate or specialized program preferred.
  4. Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, behavioral strategies, and inclusive practices.
  5. Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or clinical setting.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.

 

Reports to:  Building Principal

 

Work Year: 184 days (school year) 

 

Salary/Benefits: Per the negotiated PAT contract
