Special Education Teacher - Full-time
Location: Adelanto, CA
Required Qualifications:
Must have an Education Specialist Instruction Credential.
Must become certified in Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-Act) within 90 days of employment.
Experience in administering standardized and non-standardized tests.
Experience in writing and implementing IEPs and ITPs.
Experience in developing academic and behavioral programs.
Experience in maintaining student data systems.
Experience in supervising and managing a team.
Experience in dealing with students' basic physical needs.
Knowledge of common curriculum standards.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and initiate corrective actions.
Job Description
Provide specialized academic instruction to students in a self-contained classroom.
Develop Individual Education Plan (IEP) reports, goals, and objectives.
Individualize curriculum to meet students' specific needs and learning styles.
Maintain a highly structured classroom and appropriate level of student supervision.
Prepare lesson plans, progress reports, report cards, and incident reports.
Observe and record academic and behavioral student progress daily.
Identify and recommend students for Workability and supervise on-campus classroom job assignments.
Ensure classroom staff attends to the basic physical needs of students.
Communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including parents, caregivers, social services, district personnel, and outside support agencies.
Follow the guidelines of Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT) and Positive Behavior Interventions.
Attend in-service trainings and other required meetings.
Provide classroom orientation or training for classroom staff.
Supervise and manage Teaching Assistants and Aides.
