JOB GOAL:
The Special Education Teacher Assistant will work with students with disabilities under the direction, supervision of certified personnel to assist students in reaching their goals as indicated on their IEPs.
Applicant must be American Sign Language certified
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Special Education Teacher the Special Education Teacher Assistant will:
1. Provide ASL interpretation throughout the school day
2. Assist in implementing IEP goals.
3. Carry out small group instruction and assist in one-on-one instruction as needed.
4. Assist teachers and therapists in maintaining appropriate data and records
5. Support the continuous implementation of skills and goals associated with students’ OT, SLP and PT need.
6. Carry out and maintain computer skills and communication devices for students.
7. Implement equipment, sensory, mobility, behavior plans and self-care plans (toileting) per students’ needs - the physical ability to assist in lifting students for the purpose of positioning, changing, toileting, etc. is essential
