Special Education Teacher (K–12) – Candidate Pool

At Sheridan AllPrep Academy, we believe education should meet students where they are - academically, socially, and emotionally. Our model blends flexibility, family partnership, and personalized learning to support the whole child.

We are building a candidate pool for future Special Education Teacher openings and invite educators who are passionate about supporting diverse learners through individualized instruction, strong relationships, and collaboration with families and staff.

About the Role

The Special Education Teacher provides specially designed instruction and support to students with individualized learning needs in a virtual and hybrid environment. This role focuses on delivering services aligned to IEPs, monitoring student progress, and collaborating closely with families and staff to ensure each student receives appropriate support.

Special Education Teachers work with students across grade levels and play a key role in creating inclusive, supportive learning experiences that promote growth and independence.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide specially designed instruction in both virtual and in-person settings
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and services
  • Track student progress and maintain compliant, accurate documentation
  • Communicate regularly with families, staff, and service providers
  • Facilitate or participate in IEP meetings and related processes
  • Collaborate with general education staff to support student success
  • Support students in building independence, engagement, and self-management skills
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education requirements
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Maintain a strong focus on student safety, well-being, and confidentiality

What We’re Looking For

  • A student-centered educator passionate about supporting diverse learners
  • Strong understanding of special education processes, compliance, and best practices
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with students and families
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort working in a flexible, virtual or hybrid environment
  • Confidence using technology to support instruction and service delivery
  • A commitment to student growth, inclusion, and whole-child support

Qualifications

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License with Special Education endorsement
  • Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and progress monitoring
  • Reliable transportation for required in-person meetings and visits
  • Ability to work both remotely and independently

Work Environment

This role is primarily remote and includes:

  • Daily computer-based instruction, meetings, documentation, and communication
  • Virtual collaboration with students, families, and staff
  • Occasional in-person meetings or student support as needed
