Job Title: Elementary Social-Emotional Learning Teacher

The Paul F. Doyon Memorial School is a nurturing and inclusive learning community dedicated to educating the whole child grades PreK to 5. We believe that social-emotional development is foundational to academic success and lifelong well-being. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher to support our students in building the emotional intelligence, resilience, and interpersonal skills they need to thrive.

 

Position Overview:
The Elementary SEL Teacher will provide direct instruction in social-emotional learning to students in grades PreK–5. This educator will work closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote a positive school climate, foster emotional growth, and equip students with essential life skills. This teacher will also work in conjunction with our school counselors to respond to students experiencing difficulty in the classroom setting to offer an effective response, increasing prosocial, expected behavior. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the building C.A.R.E.S. Corner/Responsibility Room, a space dedicated to teaching prosocial behaviors and responding effectively to unexpected situations.
  • Model and teach strategies for self-regulation, empathy, responsible decision-making, and healthy relationships.
  • Provide small group and individualized support for students with identified SEL needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate SEL practices into daily classroom routines.
  • Support a positive and inclusive school culture through school-wide initiatives and events.
  • Partner with counselors, psychologists, and families to address student needs and develop support plans.
  • Track student progress and provide feedback to staff and families.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Massachusetts - Special Education Teacher licensed in Moderate Disabilities at the elementary level required.
  • Experience teaching or supporting SEL at the elementary level.
  • Strong knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Responsive Classroom and complimentary SEL curricula. 
  • Experience implementing restorative practices or positive behavioral interventions.
