Kerens Elementary is seeking a certified and compassionate Special Education Teacher/Coordinator to lead and support our special education program. This individual will serve as the campus liaison for all special education services and specialists, ensuring students receive the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral supports necessary to thrive. The coordinator will oversee IEP implementation, guide instructional planning, and help shape a learning environment where every student can succeed. This individual will also directly support students receiving resource and/or inclusion services and work closely with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and create lesson plans tailored to students’ unique learning needs.

Qualifications:

-Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education certification

-Proven experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting

-Strong understanding of IDEA and state-specific regulations

-Proficiency in IEP development and implementation

-Effective collaboration with staff, specialists (diagnostician, SLP, OT, etc.), and families

-Strong computer and documentation skills (e.g., using online IEP platforms such as Success Ed. and knowledge of X Logs)


Primary Responsibilities:

-Serve as the campus contact for special education services

-Collaborate with teachers and specialists to support student needs and accommodations

-Ensure timely development, review, and implementation of IEPs

-Support lesson planning and instructional delivery for students receiving resource and/or inclusion support, including adapting content, assessments, and materials

-Monitor instructional practices and curriculum alignment within special education programs

-Schedule and facilitate ARD/IEP meetings and ensure legal compliance

-Guide case management, progress monitoring, and data collection

-Maintain accurate student records and documentation

-Communicate with families, staff, and outside agencies as needed
