Now hiring a Contract Special Education Teacher for a long-term opportunity with competitive pay, full-time hours, and the chance to serve students through the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). This temporary contract offers up to a 1-year term with extension options, making it an excellent opportunity to support the community at Santa Rosa Day School in Sells, Arizona.

Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with the BIE, is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to provide on-site educational services. The selected candidate will work with students requiring special education support, ensuring their academic and developmental needs are met in compliance with federal and state standards.

Contract Details / Hours / Shift:

  • Government Contractor position, one base year with Extension options
  • On-site at Santa Rosa Day School in Sells, Arizona 
  • Monday through Friday 
  • Core hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Arizona Time) 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education or a related field from an accredited institution. 
  • Certification: Current Arizona Department of Public Education certificate and valid State Teacher certification for appropriate grade levels (K-6) with a Special Education endorsement. 
  • Experience: Demonstrated 3 + experience as a Special Education Teacher, including working with students with disabilities.

  • Previous  Bureau of Indian Education (BIE)  experience helpful

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

• Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

• Collaborate with parents, school staff, and other professionals to support student success.

• Participate in parent-teacher conferences each quarter. 

• Provide compensatory education services during the summer. 

• Utilize Schoology and other tools to support learning   

• Serve as Case Manager for assigned students, managing IEPs and documentation in NASIS 

• Lead and facilitate IEP meetings and collaborate with staff, families, and service providers   

• Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to special education. 

• Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and activities. 

• Support culturally responsive practices that reflect Native American communities. 

• Maintain consistent communication with parents and participate in conferences. 

• Must adhere to safety regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Requirements

 Qualifications: 

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education or a related field from an accredited institution. 

• Certification: Current Arizona Department of Public Education certificate and valid State Teacher certification for appropriate grade levels (K-6) with a Special Education endorsement. 

• Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Special Education Teacher, including working with students with disabilities. 

• Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Must be a United States citizen, living primarily in the United States. 

• Must pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance prior to starting work. 

• Must comply with Indian Preference (IP) recruitment and hiring practices. 

• Must provide evidence of current immunizations, including MMR, Tdap, Polio, and annual TB test results. 

• References required.  

• Maintain continuing education/certification.
