We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead a self-contained classroom serving students with Autism. Responsibilities:
•Provide individualized instruction to students with autism in a self-contained setting.
•Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) in collaboration with families and support staff.
•Use evidence-based practices such as ABA strategies, structured teaching, visual supports, and social skills training.
•Monitor and document student progress, behaviors, and academic goals.
•Create a structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment.
•Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., speech, OT, PT) and general education staff.
•Communicate regularly with families to ensure consistency and support across settings.
•Support students with daily living skills and behavioral needs, including implementing behavior intervention plans.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
•Valid Vermont teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
•Experience working with students with autism, preferably in a self-contained setting.
•Strong understanding of autism-specific teaching strategies and behavioral supports.
•Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
•Patience, creativity, and a passion for helping all students reach their potential.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis
•Crisis prevention/intervention training
