Position: Special Education Teacher - Dual Language Program
Location:Memorial Elementary School
Schedule:2026-2027
Salary: Per Contract
To Start:August 24, 2026 (plus two mentoring days)
Qualifications:
●Mass DESE Educator License - certified Elementary; Mild/Moderate Special Education certification required
●Bilingual; fluent in Spanish, required
oProof of Spanish proficiency via Spanish MTEL or WPT/OPI within the first year of employment
●Bilingual Education Endorsement, required within two years of employment
●Completion of the 2-hour online Language Ambassador Training Course, certificate required upon hire
●Ability to create and apply behavior plans
●Knowledge of curriculum standards
●Experience administering standardized tests and writing special education reports
●Experience developing and writing IEP goals and progress reports
●Excellent communication skills required
●Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program Certification preferred
Responsibilities:
The following items are completed in Spanish and English, as appropriate:
●Consult, collaborate, plan, and co-teach with classroom teachers to implement whole class and small group instruction, in English and Spanish
●Teach core subjects (math, science, social studies, and language arts) using both Spanish and English, depending on the program's language allocation model
●Supervision of students placed in their charge
●Modify curriculum and make bilingual educational accommodations for students with disabilities
●Incorporate culturally-sustaining social emotional learning skills and strategies throughout the day and develop incentive plans
●Develop IEPs, progress reports, evaluations, for students in a dual language setting with a variety of special education needs
●Attend IEP meetings and report on student progress
●Administer/interpret a variety of special education, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and curriculum-based assessments
●Ensure compliance with research-based goals and non-negotiables of Dual Language Education
●Communicate, in English and Spanish, regularly with parents/guardians/community agencies and colleagues to ensure student success
●Management and collaboration with teaching/behavioral assistants
●Other duties as assigned by Building and District Administration and Special Education Team Chair
