EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in Gardner, MA, for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.
Position Details:
Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Gardner, MA
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: June 2026 (with strong potential for renewal for the 2026–27 school year)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Standard School Hours
Hourly Rate: $35 – $50/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Credential Required: Ma Sped Certification
Responsibilities
Develop and execute individualized lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and student IEPs
Manage classroom behavior to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment
Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support student development
Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance instructional effectiveness
Conduct assessments using standardized testing to monitor progress and inform instruction
Implement early intervention strategies for young children and toddlers requiring specialized support
Adapt teaching methods for students with autism, hearing impairments (deaf education), or other disabilities
Plan activities that promote literacy education, math skills, physical education, and overall childhood development
Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and caregivers
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and behavioral health
Skills
Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and developmental delays
Proficiency in curriculum development tailored to individual student needs across various subjects such as literacy, math, and physical education
Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance standards
Familiarity with behavioral management techniques and behavioral therapy approaches
Ability to utilize learning technology effectively within the classroom setting
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, and external specialists
Experience in early childhood education or preschool settings is preferred
Compassionate approach towards child welfare and daycare practices
Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners in private school or Montessori environments is a plus
