EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (ESN) to work on our school campus in Upper Lake, CA, for the 2025-26 school year. Position Details

Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for the overall management of their classroom, including student and staff supervision. This role involves designing and implementing curriculum, developing and managing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior plans, and collaborating closely with parents and members of the multidisciplinary program team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage classroom environment, including student and instructional aide supervision.
  • Design and implement curriculum aligned with student needs and educational goals.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with parents, instructional aides, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and administration.
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments to evaluate student performance.
Qualifications
  • Experience in special education or related fields such as child development or behavioral health.
  • Strong knowledge of classroom management techniques tailored to students with special needs.
  • Familiarity with educational approaches such as Montessori and experience working with students with autism.
  • Understanding of child welfare principles and the importance of a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to administer and interpret standardized testing.
