Job Summary:
The Extended School Year Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follow IDEA State mandated due process procedures and functions as Case Manager to assigned IEP students.

Highly Qualified in Special Education
LBS1 Certification/ Endorsement
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Certified.

Summer School Principal and Director of Special Services
Terms of Employment:
This is a part-time, hourly position for four weeks, from June 2nd to June 26th, with an additional four days of planning and professional development to be determined.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of a Special Education Extended School Year Teacher include the ability to remain active and engaged in various classroom and therapy settings for extended periods of time. Teachers must be able to stand, sit, and move throughout the classroom and school environment to provide individualized instruction and support to students. The position requires the ability to assist students with physical disabilities, which may involve lifting, positioning, or transferring students, often using assistive devices and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Teachers must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to assist students in activities, provide necessary interventions, and set up learning environments. Clear verbal communication is essential, requiring strong vocal projection to give instructions, model activities, and provide support during classroom or therapy sessions. Additionally, teachers must have the ability to manage classroom materials, including moving and organizing adaptive equipment, technology, and resources used for instruction. Teachers should also be prepared to respond quickly to students' needs, whether academic, behavioral, or emotional, while maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. The role requires flexibility to adapt to various physical environments such as classrooms, playgrounds, and therapy rooms
