West Boylston Public Schools seeks a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support elementary students (grades K–4) with multiple disabilities in a structured, nurturing sub-separate classroom. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction that promotes academic growth, communication, life skills, and independence in a safe and engaging environment.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that align with each student’s strengths and needs.
Deliver daily instruction in functional academics, communication, adaptive behavior, and daily living skills.
Collaborate with related service providers (BCBA, OT, PT, SLP, nursing) to ensure student success.
Utilize specialized instructional approaches such as visual supports, AAC, sensory integration, and task analysis.
Knowledge and training in ACE (Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia) curriculum and strategies.
Foster a positive, structured classroom culture that promotes dignity, engagement, and independence.
Supervise and support paraprofessionals to ensure consistent implementation of student supports and data collection.
Implement positive behavior support plans and maintain accurate documentation.
Communicate regularly with families and participate in IEP meetings and team discussions.
Support students’ physical and personal care needs as required. Supporting students with feeding, toileting, and hygiene needs as appropriate.
This is an active, hands-on role that requires flexibility, physical engagement, and a commitment to supporting each child’s full participation and independence. Frequent lifting, transferring, or physical assistance may be required.
