Special Education Teacher

Full-time for the 2026-2027 School Year

POSITION OVERVIEW
Leominster High School is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a permanent position. The position includes co-teaching in academic classes and support classes that teach study skills. The candidate should be familiar with co-teaching strategies, special education testing, writing IEPs, providing accommodations, and instruction in executive functioning skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach academic and executive functioning skill classes.

• Works in conjunction with other staff to create IEPs; provides input for student reevaluation.

• Communicate regularly with families of students receiving services.

• Maintain service delivery log and progress notes; use ongoing assessments to evaluate and report on student progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS

• MA Special Education certification as Teacher of Students With Moderate Disabilities

• Demonstrated ability to engage, direct, and teach high school-age students

• Skilled at setting limits, processing events, and guiding students in behaviors and self-management 

• Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations, including mandated reporting

• Experience with IEP-focused service delivery or solution-focused counseling

• Ability to establish strong relationships with students and parents.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Reading Instruction training is not required but is an advantage. 

Salary commensurate with related experience.
