Special Education Teacher – Long Term Substitute Elementary
SCHOOL:
New Fairfield Elementary School
POSITION TO START:
December 18, 2025 through March 25, 2025
DAILY RATE:
Per diem $321.63 (contingent on educational degree status/certification)
The Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs, including students with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disabilities. Candidates should be knowledgeable about trauma-informed practices and positive behavioral support systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and delivering standards-aligned instruction based on student IEP
Conducting progress monitoring and ongoing assessment to inform instruction
Writing and implementing high-quality IEPs aligned with district and state expectations
Participating in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) and interdisciplinary team meeting
Engaging in consistent and professional communication with families
Collaborating effectively with general education teachers and related service providers
Providing direction and support to paraprofessional staff as part of the instructional team
QUALIFICATIONS: CT Certification in Special Education (165, 265, or 065)
Excellent teaming, collaboration and communication skills.
The ability to differentiate instruction and provide inclusive education is highly desirable.
Prefer teaching experience in managing student behavior.
