Milestones Day School is a private school, located in Waltham, MA. We support high functioning students with a wide range of special needs including but not limited to Autism spectrum disorders, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Anxiety Disorders and other psychiatric issues. Our state of the art facility provides a creative and supportive environment for students to reach their highest level of potential. Milestones offers students a unique and intensive year-round academic and therapy program.

Teachers work collaboratively with our clinical staff allowing multidisciplinary teams that consist of Teachers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Reading and Math Specialists, BCBA, Principal and Directors. We have a low student to staff ratio and a teacher assistant to support teaching in each classroom. We are currently accepting applications for a licensed Special Education Teacher to teach ELA in grades 6-8.

*Active Massachusetts Teaching Licensure required - Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities*

Primary Responsibilities include:
-Develop ELA lesson plans that include differentiated instruction and opportunities for hands on learning.
-Providing academic, behavioral, and emotional support to students, working collaboratively with others, developing curriculum and lesson plans, developing specialized instruction, and modifying curriculum as necessary to meet the needs of Milestones’ students.
-Preparing all curriculum instruction, writing progress reports, maintaining grades in Powerschool, and updating web content pertaining to their classes.
-Creating lesson plans that are based upon the Massachusetts Frameworks. Teachers are required to maintain their professional teaching license.
-Developing lesson plans that include differentiated instruction and opportunities for hands on learning.
-Assist in the development of student Individualized Education Plans and attend IEP meetings.
-Writing quarterly progress reports and report cards.
-Gathering, analyzing and using student performance data to inform instruction.
-Developing positive and meaningful relationships with families through weekly communication to highlight each student’s social-emotional and academic progress.

Qualifications:
-Active Massachusetts Licensure in Moderate Disabilities PreK-8, Moderate Disabilities 5-12, OR Severe Disabilities
-Masters degree in Education or Special Education (preferred); Bachelor's degree in a related field (required)
-Positive disposition and a team-player mentality
-Excellent communication skills
-Well-developed writing skills

Salary Range: $75,000-$80,000
