We are currently looking for a Special Education Teacher who will be responsible for providing special education to students with severe or intensive special needs in a nurturing and structured classroom environment.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will design and implement individualized educational plans, lead classroom staff, and collaborate with nurses, social workers, and families to support each student’s learning and care needs. You’ll manage the overall classroom environment while ensuring educational, medical, and personal care goals are met, making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special needs.
Responsibilities include:
Curriculum Development and Implementation: Design and deliver individualized curriculum for students with severe or intensive special needs, using ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies to best support each student’s growth.
Classroom and Schedule Management: Oversee daily classroom operations by managing schedules, supervising staff, and coordinating with ancillary professionals to ensure students’ educational, personal care, and medical needs are fully supported.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with nursing staff, social workers, families, and team members through regular communication and active participation in meetings to ensure coordinated support and student success.
Other responsibilities include student supervision and support, documentation and reporting, and staff training and development.
Qualifications:
Massachusetts certification (or provisional) in Severe/Intensive Special Needs, or eligible to transfer certification from another state
Related field certification with active enrollment in a Severe/Intensive Special Needs program
Experience working with students with severe/intensive special needs in school or clinical settings (preferred)
Knowledge of IEP/ISP development, educational strategies, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Ability to perform physical management tasks, including lifting and positioning students
Strong communication skills and effective teamwork with diverse professionals
Pay: $28.33/hr with $5,000 Sign on Bonus
