Special Education Teacher - Short Term Substitute

Grade 2

 

Job Summary

The Special Education teacher will provide academic support in the general education classrooms, specialized instruction for small groups and individuals, and academic testing as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Special Education.
  • Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Special Education.
  • Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified. ? Current authorization to work in the United States
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to use technology effectively.
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for initial and revaluations.
  • Schedule, prepare, and attend TEAM meetings for newly referred and caseload students.
  • Provide special education services to meet the goals of student’s IEPs.
  • Collaborate with general education staff around appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices and Universal Design for Learning.
  • Assist with administration of MCAS.
  • Provide ongoing two-way communication with families.
  • Regularly collaborate and plan with specialists, department, and school-wide teams on curriculum.
  • Provide an equitable and inclusive learning environment that is responsive to all learners and their families.
  • Collaborate and communicate with all colleagues to positively contribute to the school culture.
  • Responsible for other job-related duties as needed.
