Northwestern Regional Middle School is seeking a certified Special Education teacher to substitute at Northwestern Regional School District No. 7 Middle School in the Flex Program. The FLEX program is a flexible special education program that emphasizes teaching and supporting social, emotional, and behavioral skills. This role is ideal for a passionate educator committed to instructional excellence, social-emotional learning, and inclusive practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction aligned with a parallel middle school curriculum
Support students with exceptionalities, including ED, ADHD, and executive functioning deficits, in both the general education and resource, special education setting
Develop and implement BIPs and FBAs
Collaborate with educators, service providers, and families
Supervise instructional assistants and evaluate student progress
Qualifications:
CT Special Education Certification (065, 165, or 265) required
Experience with middle school students and social-emotional/behavioral needs preferred
Strong knowledge of IDEA, PPT process, and differentiated instruction
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
