The Wilder School Alternative Program is seeking special education teachers to join our team. Candidates should have a strong background in providing high quality direct instruction in all subject areas and a deep understanding of trauma informed practices and emotional disturbances. This position would work as part of a student centered and family supportive team which includes other special educators and mental health professionals. We are looking for strong communication skills, problem-solving oriented staff, and educators who believe that relationships come first.
The Wilder School Alternative Program is an educational therapeutic program serving students, grades 2 through 8, from the Hartford Area Regional Collaborative member schools. Students with severe behavioral disabilities are referred to The Wilder School by the member supervisory unions. The goal of the The Wilder School Alternative Program is to collaborate with the student and the family to meet each student's academic, social and emotional needs. Intensive and comprehensive education and mental health services are provided using a relational approach.
