Summary:  

 

The Speech-Language Pathologist serves as a multidisciplinary team member to identify, evaluate, and serve students with disabilities who demonstrate communication needs.  The Speech-Language Pathologist functions as a case manager for students with speech-language impairments and as a related service provider for students identified under other disability categories. 

 

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:

  • Conduct speech-language evaluations in accordance with eligibility and related service requirements and state-mandated special education timelines.
  • Analyze assessment data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings as a member of eligibility committees and IEP teams. 
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to develop relative plans to address student needs.
  • Serve as IEP case manager for students identified as having a speech-language impairment. 
  • Provide a continuum of speech-language services based upon current research and evidence based practices. 
  • Facilitate evaluation and individualized service plan activities for students with speech-language impairments who are parentally placed in homeschool or private school settings. 
  • Complete and maintain necessary documentation for Medicaid eligible students.
  • Supervise SLP Assistant (SLPA) staff members, as needed. 
  • Provide fieldwork experience to SLP and SLPA students for Colleges/ Universities under contract, as needed. 
  • Abide by State statutes, School Board policies and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, Division policy, and administrative regulations.

 

  • Other duties, as assigned, through the immediate supervisor.

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: 

 

Valid school speech-language pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology required.  Experience providing services in the school setting  with knowledge of the special education process preferred. 


Salary:  


Range for the 2026-2027 school year is $61,800 to $95,171 and includes pay for a master’s degree.
