The job of Substitute (Sub) Paraprofessional and Sub Campus Attendant is for the purpose of supporting students in a variety of settings both in and out of the classroom. Sub Paraprofessionals-Special Education support students with disabilities in general education and special education classrooms; Sub Paraprofessionals-Preschool support children ages 3-4 in the district's preschool programs; and Sub Paraprofessionals-Transitional Kindergarten (TK) support students ages 4-6 in the district's TK classrooms. All Sub Paraprofessionals work alongside the classroom teacher to assist with instruction and support behavior. Sub Campus Attendants supervise and support all students outside of the classroom during recess, lunch and breaks.

Sub Paraprofessionals work a 6.5 hour day, generally between the hours of 7:30 AM- 3:30 PM depending on the start and end time of the specific site. Sub Campus Attendants on the elementary school sites work a 3.5 hour day, generally between the hours of 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM depending when recess and lunch scheduled. At the middle schools, Sub Campus Attendants work a 7.5 hour day generally between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM depending on the start and end time of the school site.

As a substitute employee hours are not guaranteed (substitutes can work as little or as much as desired); position is not benefits eligible.

Examples of Duties

Substitute Paraprofessionals:
Assists students with instructional activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.

Provides support and reinforcement of student behavior plans, under the supervision of the assigned teacher.

Supervises and monitors students in the classroom and during unstructured times for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. (For example: in the hallways, to and from lunch/recess and during morning/afternoon drop off and pick up.)

Assist students with disabilities and medical needs in daily living activities such as feeding, toileting and mobility.

Maintains instructional materials for the purpose of ensuring availability of items as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Substitute Campus Attendants:
Supervises students on the playground and in the cafeteria during recess and lunch.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience working with children
Completion of CPR/1st Aid within the first 90 days of employment (District sponsored)
