Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Purpose Statement: The job of Substitute is done for the purpose/s of supporting instruction, supervising students, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher or paraprofessional.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex tasks. Specific skills-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; reading, analyzing, and interpreting lesson plans, technical procedures, and textbooks; and analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusion. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include appropriate policies, procedures, regulations, and/or laws; and behavior management strategies.
ABILITY is required to work with others and to use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; operate equipment using standardized methods; work with a diverse individuals and groups. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining positive and appropriate relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; and exhibiting tack and patience.

Valid substitute certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)

Working Environment
Some lifting (up to 15 pounds at times), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, this job requires prolonged periods of sitting - 10%, 40% walking, and 50% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
