TITLE: Summer Kids Club at Lakeland Elementary,
one-on-one paraprofessional
REPORTS TO: Summer Kids Club Supervisor
Summer Kids Club Director
JOB SPECIFICS: Responsible for providing direct support and
assistance to an individual student with Autism
Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the Summer Kids
Club setting. And addressing the specific needs of the
student, which may include academic, behavioral, or
physical support.
DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: Elk Rapids Schools has approximately 973 students and is located in the
northwest lower peninsula. Our families enjoy the benefits of living in an area thriving on tourism, as
most of our district surrounds beautiful lakes, trails, and recreational areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Responsible for providing direct support and assistance to an individual student with Autism
Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the Summer Kids Club setting. And addressing the specific
needs of the student, which may include academic, behavioral, or physical support
? Works closely with the student, under the supervision of the program director, to implement
strategies tailored to the student's unique needs
? Assist in conducting learning experiences for students
? Assist teachers and students in achieving the objectives of summer kids club activities
? Help students with sensory needs and/or breaks when needed
? Provide students with rewards/motivators, times, visuals, and anything else to make their day
successful
? Ability to work collaboratively with a team, but also take initiative to support student needs
? Willingness to receive appropriate training to support professional growth and development
? Display the ability to communicate effectively with students and adults
? Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young children
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
? High School Diploma/GED
? Ability to meet child care licensing requirements
? General knowledge of child development and behavioral characteristics
? Ability to work with people from diverse groups
? Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
? Initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
? Effective communication skills both in oral and written form
? Flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing environment
OTHER INFORMATION:
Terms of Employment: Tuesdays and Fridays only for the duration of the Summer Kids Club
Dates: June 16 - August 15, 2025. (Closed July 3rd and 4th)
8 hours/day - 8:00 am-4:00 pm
Deadline: Friday, June 6, 2025, or until position is filled
