1. Works with at-risk students at various academic/achievement levels to provide educational services which are comparable to those in public school
2. Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
3. Modify the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies
4. Meet with parents to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs.
5. Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, hold SBT meetings, and eligibility meetings (all as needed) designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social/emotional development.
6. Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning in a secure, restrictive setting.
7. Establishes high expectations for students by employing a variety of instructional strategies and media.
8. Performs duties as a team member on an interdisciplinary team in a professional and ethical manner.
9. Maintains a positive school climate by cooperating with other staff in planning the instructional program, goals and objectives.
10. Utilizes the team approach by working closely with the other teachers, detention home staff and administration.
11. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, division policy and regulations.
12. Complies with and enforces school rules, state and federal guidelines.
13. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other professional meetings.
14. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
15. Performs other school duties and assignments as appointed.
