Job Title: Special Education Teacher (SY 2026-2027)
Location: Lawrence High School - Lower School Academy - Grade 10

Lawrence High School is seeking exceptional teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
-Co-Teach 4 sections
-Teach one Academic Reinforcement class
-Support teachers by providing accommodation and/or modification to the curriculum for students eligible for special education.
-Work to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.
-Implement state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
-Participate in the development of and oversees implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education.
-Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
-Implement common assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
-Use data from formative and summative assessments to inform instruction
-Meet weekly with a grade-level content team and an interdisciplinary cohort.
-Participate in biweekly instructional coaching sessions to improve instructional practices.
-Act as advisor to a group of 8-15 students.
-Communicate weekly with students and families around academic and behavioral progress.

-Will to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedback
-Humility and a good sense of humor

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred; appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required-this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s). Teachers should hold an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement; A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Pay Range
In accordance with the Lawrence Teachers’ Union.
$59,988-$86,585
