Definition: Title I paraprofessionals work under the direction of the Title I teacher(s) and the Director of Title I, Early Literacy & Family Engagement, supporting students in K-3 who are identified as needing specific support in developing early literacy skills and reading skills.

General support of a classroom or classrooms
Provide academic support and carryover of the lessons the Title I teacher has developed
Create opportunities and instruct students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school day
Potentially assigned to multiple/different classroom grade levels or teams
Ability to implement behavioral/social support plans within the classroom to individual students or group of students (including but not limited to attending, non-compliance, completion of tasks, following rules, and classroom expectations)
Provide small or whole group instruction within the classroom or in the Title I room setting
Regular education and special education students will be supported
Engage individual and small groups of learners in instructional activities
Follow prescribed criteria for providing and/or fading student support
Share relevant information about learners with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem-solving, decision-making, and program planning
Support students to access a variety of technologies
Complete all required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, assault, etc.
Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instruction
Facilitate positive relationships and engagements with peers
Support students with the organization of materials, assignments, and schedules
May be required to assist students in taking notes or scribing
Based on the student population and census in the buildings, may be assigned to different buildings
Ensure that all accommodations outlined in the DCAP (District Curriculum Accommodation Plan) are implemented based on student needs
Assist in the facilitation of MCAS and district assessments based on accommodations
Maintain student confidentiality
Carry out other related assignments designated by the Principal, Title I Teacher(s), and Director of Title I, Early Literacy & Family Engagement
Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
High school degree or equivalent
Enjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all children
Exemplifies the core values of North Middlesex Regional School District
Academic knowledge of the curriculum at the grade level supported

The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness, although in a clean environment
CONTRACT - 170 school days (through end of the school year)
6 hours per day
Rate - per contract (For this school year, the hourly rate for a new paraprofessional is $18.54)

Title I paraprofessionals are paid through Federal Title I grant funds.
These positions are considered one-year positions - positions are available annually, contingent on available funding
