POSITION: WAVM Paraprofessional REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Assistant Principal WORK YEAR: 183 days a year, 6 hours a day Requirements: District-sponsored safety (de-escalation) training within one year of employment. Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. Qualifications: Experience working with school aged children in an educational setting. Ability to communicate effectively with students and school personnel. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience and interest in working with children with various learning differences. This position may include considerable physical demands, including the ability to lift 25 pounds. Position Goal: To assist the WAVM Director. Performance Responsibilities: Performance responsibilities may vary. Monitor students working in WAVM studios. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior, professionalism and confidentiality of information about students at all times. Maintain appropriate and effective communication. Assist with coordination of major WAVM events (telethon, banquet). Answer phones. Handle WAVM correspondence. Other WAVM clerical duties as assigned. Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, crisis situation). Attend professional development in appropriate topics related to your job position. Use Universal Precautions to maintain a safe learning and/or working environment. Fulfill all responsibilities assigned by the WAVM Director. Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions may require the following mental and physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some kneeling, crouching, crawling, running, and sitting on the floor; and maintaining emotional control under stress.
