Definition: 1:1 Paraprofessionals have a child specific assignment.
Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Support the specified student throughout the school day from arrival to dismissal
Provide academic support and carry over of the lessons the classroom teacher and/ or special education teacher has developed
Provide all accommodations within a student’s designated IEP/504
Implement modifications that have been developed by the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher
Develop materials based on specific instruction from the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher
Create opportunities and instructs students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school day
Provide carry over of instructional practices developed by related service providers (BCBA, speech and language pathologist, OT, PT, counselor)
Ability to implement behavioral/social support plan to individual student (including but not limited to attending, non-compliance, completion of tasks, following rules and classroom expectations)
Engage individual in instructional activities
Follow prescribed criteria for providing and/or fading student support
Share relevant information about the student with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem solving, decision-making, and program planning
Support student to access a variety of technology
Complete all required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, assault, etc.
Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instruction
Facilitate positive relationships and engagements with peers
Support students with organization of materials, assignments and schedules
May be required to assist student taking notes or scribing
Ensure that all accommodations outlined in the DCAP (District Curriculum Accommodation Plan) are implemented based on student's needs
Assist in the facilitation of MCAS based on accommodations, when appropriate
Assist in the development of portfolios for MCAS, when appropriate
Support student during their specials, lunch and recess times
Facilitate and support arrival and dismissal times
Maintain student confidentiality
Carry out other relative assignments designated by the Principal
Required Skills, Experience and Competencies:
High school degree or equivalent
Enjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all children
Exemplifies the core values of North Middlesex Regional School District
Academic knowledge of the curriculum of the grade level supported

The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move children/objects
The employee must be able to work in a noisy, stressful, high-pressure environment and still be able to concentrate and keep children safe
Ability to respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, behavior problems, abusive students, etc.)
May be exposed to bodily fluids including saliva, urine, feces, vomit, blood, etc....
The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness, although in a clean environment
May assist medically fragile or physically disabled students for the purpose of maintaining students’ personal hygiene
May assist students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities with grooming, feeding, toileting, diapering
Salary: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement for paraprofessionals, the salary range is: $19.19 to $27.36 per hour. This position is eligible for a toileting stipend and an ABA stipend.
