Job Summary:
A One-on-One Paraprofessional works with an individual student to provide activities and experiences designed to help fulfill the student’s potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This is a 88% FTE position (35 hours per week) during the academic year.

Director of Student Services & Classroom Teacher
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the instruction of an individual student including assistance in the laboratories, washrooms, playgrounds, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, libraries, field trips and all other educational settings as determined by the classroom teacher.
- Support the diversity of the student population through cultural and family engagement and the inclusion of diverse learners throughout the school.
- Assist the student in the areas of behavior management, instructional support, activities of daily living, social skills training, task redirection, etc.
- Provides reinforcement to individual of direct material initially taught by the classroom teacher.
- Responsible for guiding any enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the classroom teacher.
- Assists individual student in any testing.
- Responsible for implementing any behavior plans.
- Communicates as needed with various groups of people outside the classroom including social worker, parents, school psychologist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and physical therapist to assure smooth transition and understanding of student.
- Assists in implementing various activities prescribed by various outside service providers (i.e. school psychologist, occupational therapist, speech therapist).
- Maintains a daily student's activity log.
- Conferring and planning with teachers related to IEP objectives and/or modifications, and providing documentation.
- Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Attends parent/teacher conferences as required.
- Work on days when the student they are assigned is absent.
- Performs other duties as may be necessary and assigned by the classroom teacher and/or Director of Student Services.
