Position: 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional Location: Glen Lake Community Schools Reports to: Building Principal Pay Rate: Based on the Glen Lake Federation of Support Staff Contract Start Date: August 25, 2025 Role Summary The One-on-One Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with special needs by providing individualized academic, behavioral, and emotional support. This role is essential in ensuring that all students can access learning and thrive within our school community. This position is hired and assigned based on need and is subject to layoff if the district's needs change. Key Responsibilities ? Support students with IEPs in general education and special education settings ? Provide assistance during electives, lunch, recess, and physical activities as needed ? Attend and contribute to planning meetings and IEPCs when requested ? Assist students with physical needs or specialized equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, communication devices) ? Monitor and support behavior plans under the guidance of special education and general education teachers ? Accompany students on field trips and assist with supervision ? Serve as a witness for medication administration, if requested ? Perform other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications & Skills ? High school diploma and at least 60 college credits. ? Bachelor’s degree, WorkKeys certification, or related training preferred ? Experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting ? Strong interpersonal and communication skills ? Able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with physical care tasks ? Dependable, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team ? Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure ? Committed to professional growth and willing to attend ongoing training ? Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the social-emotional needs of students ? Passion for fostering a safe and high-expectation learning environment ?
